Site Description and Plot:
For many years, the world of Gaea was a peaceful place. The Kingdoms of Liran and Kizall worked in mostly harmony, with few arguments between the two. The land was prosperous, the people happy and well fed, and their Daemons used as companions, not the fighting beasts they were created to be.
And then some idiot pissed off Lokeal, the Panda-Headed God of War.
"You puny mortals!" it had roared like thunder across the sky, as fire erupted from the ground and rained from the sky, "I have waited plenty of years to show you true fear! Now you shall taste my fury! FIGHT! FIGHT TO THE DEATH, AND DO NOT STOP UNTIL I COMMAND SO!"
To say the world went to hell would be an understatement.
Liran, which had specialized in the making of tools before hand, had better resources for weapons and ammunition, turning farmers into warriors in a matter of a handful of months. Kizall, on the other hand, was renowned for their agricultural products, had more food and a plethora of beasts at their command, not counting the people's Daemons. Where Liran had spears, swords and arrows, Kizall had trained Hawks, mounted troops, and hunters more skilled with their bows.
Both sides had Daemons, the physical manifestations of the Soul, but neither knew their full potential yet...
Nearly a millennium has passed since the beginning of the great war, and still neither side has seen a glimpse of victory. Only death, and brief respite. But over the years the battle has gotten bloodier, with the growing knowledge of the Daemon's true natures.
But still, they futilely look for an end they do no see coming, and continue the bloody war that has become a part of them.
Each and every person on Gaea is born with what is called a Daemon, a physical manifestation of their Soul. While young, they maintain the ability to shape shift at will between nearly any animal, but upon reaching a particular age (it varies from child to child, between 12-18), when they begin to mature due to their personality or surroundings, they take on a permanent form to reflect their master's inner self. It is unknown at the time if a radical change in personality could further change the Daemon's shape, but it could be possible.
While a Daemon is the manifestation of the person's soul, they also possess their own personality and traits, and most the time aren't even the same gender. It is something along the lines of "One soul within two Bodies", as they are both the same Soul, but different personalities. Other people are not allowed to touch a Daemon not of their own. This is not a written rule, more like one that is observed subconsciously by most people; touching another person's Daemon causes them great discomfort, and it is generally something frowned on, or shied away from as a whole. Daemons can touch each other though, and usually do in some species as greetings.
Originally considered just a companion, within the last hundred and fifty years they have managed to unlock more of the Daemon's potential. Essentially, a Daemon also represents all of their Human's animal instincts; from tracking ability, to stamina, agility, better senses. Those who learn to resonate the two halves of their soul can gain these abilities for lengths of time, which would result in a more animalistic appearance, as well as prominent traits from the animal itself. People with Bird Daemons can grow wings that can carry thing for a while and eyes that see better, people with predator Daemons can grow claws, ears, tails of their species.
This power is not forever, nor is it an incredible strength boost; each Daemon has a strength and a weakness, and there is always another person who could have a strength to beat you. It also takes practice, and a good deal of energy to maintain that form, causing varying problems once you stop using it; the longer you use it the more time you will need to recuperate and get nourishment again, as animal bodies run differently than human. But, if you know how to properly use it you can manifest half-traits - better sight, smell, hearing, stamina ect - which when used with combination of your own power can be useful, and takes less energy. This is often used by those in the army, and can take a while to learn but is a great asset.

Additional Comments: Brand new, kind of made up on the spot. There are still a few kinks to work out, but I assure it'll all be done and ready to go soon.
Sort of based off of the Golden Compass, with a little of our own spin added onto it. c:
