Site Description: An original zombie board that takes place directly after a zombie plague has wiped out most of the world's population
Main Plotline: On May 28, 2009 it all fell apart. Nobody knows what happened, though there are plenty of theories. Maybe it was a manufactured virus or disease that escaped from a lab--that's a popular one. Maybe it was just some spectacularly unlucky combination of mutations in an existing virus. Maybe it was some religious or supernatural event, some people certainly believe that. But whatever it was, it was immediate and unexpected and the effects were devastating.
It started with the recently-dead rising up and walking the earth. They attacked the living, biting and tearing at them, devouring human flesh. Bad enough if that were all, but the walking dead were only part of the problem. Whatever disease or force was passed on when a zombie bit a living person was also airborne. People who woke up in the morning perfectly healthy and whole started running a fever around midday, fell down at sunset, and rose as zombies at dark. The disease, if it was a disease, was fiercely virulent, only a tiny percent of the population carried any immunity to the airborne version, and no one was immune from infection if they were bitten.
It took a week to kill the world. Seven days from the first infections to more than ninety-nine percent of the human population roaming the world as zombies. If there's a government any more it's deep in hiding and not coming out any time soon. There is no police force, no organized military, the television channels and radio stations are mostly broadcasting static.
One half of one percent of the human population survived that first week. One and a half million people in the United States, out of the more than three hundred million who lived there before. Zombies own the night, somewhat dormant (but not inactive) during the daylight hours. Now, not quite a year later survivors are searching one another out, some banding together for protection, some turning into gangs or worse. A few people are trying to figure out ways to rebuild.
